Neogen’s Technical Service Supervisor, Diagnostics is responsible for managing and providing technical support and training, through personal efforts as well as management of staff members, to support Neogen’s forensic drug detection and life science product lines sold world-wide. Products include laboratory-based test kits, substrates, reagents, consumables and automated equipment sold to laboratories in the human forensic toxicology, animal racing drug detection and life science markets.
The position is responsible for providing technical customer support including method application development, design of validation studies, data interpretation, and product troubleshooting for Neogen’s Diagnostic test kits and equipment. The work also includes generating and analyzing data utilizing a variety of laboratory techniques and instrumentation. This person will manage installations, technical support, training and demonstrations for the automated instruments used by Neogen’s customers. Other responsibilities include conducting investigations for customer complaints, managing technical inquiries from Neogen customers as well as managing technical training programs for customers and Neogen sales and technical service team members. This position is also responsible for conducting the writing and review of technical product literature and publications for the Diagnostic product line.
This position requires a candidate with the knowledge and technical skills to support the technical applications, validations, troubleshooting, customer training and support for Neogen’s Diagnostic product lines. A candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant life science area such as forensic toxicology, biology, chemistry, pharmacology, immunology or another related field and a minimum of 3 years of industry-related experience required. It is preferred that a candidate will have technical support and/or laboratory experience in the forensic toxicology field and/or a minimum of 2 years of experience working with ELISA test methods. 15 -25% of time spent on overnight travel (travel could be higher during certain periods). Travel includes domestic and international travel. The position is based out of Neogen’s Lexington, KY office.
An ideal candidate will have the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw conclusions in order to help troubleshoot and resolve customer issues. The candidate should have excellent verbal and written communication as well as personal presentation skills. They should be proficient in the ability to learn and apply technical and scientific knowledge to support customers, prospects, and Diagnostic staff. They should have excellent customer service skills, a high degree of self-motivation, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a dynamic team.
Education/ Experience: Four-year degree in biology, chemistry, pharmacology, immunology or related field or 2 equivalent years of experience with ELISA diagnostics. Experience in the forensic toxicology field preferred. At least 3 years of in-house or industry related experience is required to hold position. Excellent decision making and troubleshooting skills; very limited assistance required from supervisor. Ability to interface with management on appropriateness of potential products and market applications.
