Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Supervising a team of Quality Specialists, day-to-day monitoring and maintenance of quality management system, assuring that all remedial actions are taken and documented by Laboratory Supervisors, or responsible personnel, maintaining documentation of all records verifying effectiveness of quality management system, quality control/assurance document maintenance (generate and archive monthly charts and QC Standards/QC/Blind QC preparation, verification, distribution, documentation). Other essential responsibilities include: Involving in preparation, review, and maintenance of copies of SOPs and/or Quality Manual, verifying that laboratory practice is in compliance with current regulations (ISO/IEC 17025, CAP, NYDOH, other licensing) and following standardized guidelines, identifying and correcting activities deviating from the established QM and QC standards, participating in troubleshooting non-conformities seen in laboratory sections, initiating corrective action requests, and implementing determined/approved quality improvement approaches, leading and training the new quality assurance personnel, renewing laboratory licensing.
BA/BS from an accredited institution with a major in one of the chemical, physical or biological sciences and at least 6 years of pertinent clinical or forensic lab experience.
Special Position Requirements
Lab positions generally involve handling of biohazard materials and hazardous substances.
• Experience developing extraction procedures and chromatography/mass spectrometry methods
• Two-year work experience in a forensic toxicology laboratory
• Working knowledge of statistics that is applicable to method validation and Quality Assessment.
• Excellent MicroSoft Excel skills
• Superior leadership skills
At times, depending on the needs of the company and shift, it may be necessary to work on weekends. At times, overtime may be required for full time positions.
