OVERALL DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

Will perform routine and basic toxicological assays and techniques on biological specimens for the purpose of drug and drug metabolite identification. The incumbent will serve as a LC-MS/MS analyst for Lehigh Valley Toxicology. The individual selected will extract, analyze and report all results to senior laboratory staff. The LC-MS/MS analyst will be responsible for first tier (initial) data review as well as daily production and instrument maintenance. The individual selected will assist in maintaining daily and operational levels of laboratory supplies both consumable and instrumental. The incumbent will assist senior staff in maintaining the laboratory in a clean, safe and operational manner.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Analysis of biological specimens using the following techniques:
• Homogenous and Heterogeneous Immunoassay techniques
• Various extraction techniques
• Liquid Chromatography/Tandem Mass Spectrometry
2. Perform and assist laboratory personnel in specimen receipt and processing
3. Perform sample accessioning in accordance with standards of good laboratory practice
4. Perform and assist laboratory personnel in specimen screening by immunoassay and/or LC-MS/MS and specimen confirmation by LC-MS/MS
5. Assist by direction in the evaluation of new and future analytical methods as required by the Laboratory Director or Laboratory Manager of Lehigh Valley Toxicology
6. Ensure and maintain proficiency with Laboratory Information Management System
7. Assures all records of analyses performed are accurate and properly archived
8. Assist with laboratory SOP updates and modifications
9. Maintain logs of analyses performed, equipment problems and solutions, freezer and refrigerator temperature logs and equipment operation logs
10. Maintain the laboratory in an inspection readiness status at all times
11. Handle hazardous materials and hazardous waste, ensuring proper safety precautions are taken in storing and disposition of these materials
12. Maintain acceptable inventory levels of all laboratory supplies

MAJOR QUALIFICATIONS (INCLUDING EDUCATION, PRIOR EXPERIENCE, ETC.):

 BS or MS in Science-related field (e.g., Chemistry, Biology, etc.)
 Relevant experience in LC-MS/MS analysis
 Method validation experience
 Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) experience is preferred
