This position, Forensic Chemist II (Job Opening #621556), is a LIMITED SERVICE POSITION with funding through 6/30/19, with the possibility of continued funding. It is open to all State employees and external applicants.
Hourly rates within the Classified Bargaining Unit Pay Plan will change effective July 9, 2017. At that time, the starting rate (Step 1) for this job opening will be $24.43 per hour.

General Job Description
Professional laboratory and field work involving chemical and criminological analysis of materials, samples, and evidence for the State Forensic Laboratory. Work includes laboratory material comparisons and examinations in conjunction with police investigations. Work is performed under the supervision of the Senior Forensic Chemist.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, toxicology or forensic science related area INCLUDING eighteen (18) credit hours in chemistry AND EITHER two (2) years or more of professional laboratory experience performing biochemical, organic, physical, or toxicological chemical analysis OR one (1) year or more of professional forensic laboratory experience performing biochemical, organic, physical, or toxicological chemical analysis on items of forensic evidence.
Master's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, physical chemistry, toxicology or forensic science related area.
