Government Analyst II – ATP Department Inspector
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: (1) A bachelor's degree in physical, biological or forensic science from an accredited university, and three years of professional experience in a laboratory setting, program research, program evaluation, or data analysis. (2) A master's degree as described above can substitute for one year of the required professional experience. (3) A doctorate degree as described above can substitute for two years of the required professional experience.
DUTIES: This position will provide management consulting services and assistance to law enforcement agencies, criminal justice training centers, and criminal justice officials in all aspects pertaining to the operation and maintenance of approved evidentiary breath test instruments. Testify in legal proceedings as an expert witness in the field of breath alcohol analysis, including the scientific principles, legal and rule requirements, and procedures necessary to preserve the admissibility of breath test results in criminal proceedings. Register and ensure the scientific accuracy of all new evidentiary breath test instrumentation as required by Chapter 11D-8, FAC. Provide direction, assistance and customer service for the criminal justice community, state, municipal and federal law enforcement agencies, as well as judicial branches, criminal justice training centers, and the private sector. Perform other related duties as requested by the Program Manager or other designee.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis; knowledge of basic management principles and practices; ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document work flow and other activities relating to the improvement of management practices; ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials; ability to conduct fact find-solving techniques; ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments; ability to communicate effectively; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
