Job Description: Sample preparation, data acquisition, and reporting according to policies and procedures using immunoassay (IA), gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry (GC/MS), liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometry (LC/MS/MS and LC/HRAM), and other scientific instrumentation. Maintain, troubleshoot, and verify that test systems are within established acceptable levels of operational performance. Coordinates with pre-analytical and post-analytical personnel to assure efficient sample analyses and information dissemination.

Evaluates results to identify issues that may adversely affect test performance; reviews reporting of test results for accuracy; assimilates records for suspicious and/or confirmation samples for further processing. Participates in inventory management of laboratory supplies. Assists in providing training for new employees and cross training for existing staff. Assists with editing standard operating procedures.

Performs assigned daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual quality assurance duties in compliance with ISO 17025 accreditation.

Performs additional duties as required.

Advertised Salary: $35,000 - $40,000; commensurate with education and/or experience.

Minimum Requirements: Doctoral degree in chemistry or a closely related field; or a master's degree in chemistry or a closely related field and one year of relevant experience; or a bachelor's degree in chemistry or a closely related field and three years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of concepts, principles, techniques and terminology obtained from formal education in analytical chemistry, related science and from practical laboratory experience related to racing animal anti-doping testing.

Knowledge and experience in operating, maintaining, and interpreting data acquired by immunoassay (IA), gas chromatograph-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) and liquid chromatograph-mass spectrometry (LC/MS and LC/HRAM).

Knowledge of policies and procedures that guide the employees of the University of Florida.

Knowledge of ISO 17025 as defined in the Racing Laboratory Accreditation Standard.
