We are currently looking to fill a Certifying Scientist individual to be based in our Gretna, LA office. The qualified candidate will perform advanced laboratory activities and report to the Laboratory Manager.
The qualified candidates will have the following regular tasks assigned:
Research, develop, enhance, and troubleshoot methods used in the laboratory for processing of urine specimens for substance of abuse
Annually validate methods used in the laboratory for the processing of urine specimens for substance abuse
Ensuring documents are 100% accurate with no administrative errors and must meet SAMHSA and College of American Pathologists – Forensic Urine Drug Testing (CAP-FUDT) criteria for a Certifying Scientist during inspections
Must comply with current Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and regulatory guidelines.
Presenting the lab data in a competent and convincing manner
Will be responsible for conversing with Medical Review Officers (MROs) and clients on the metabolism of the various drugs in an intelligent manner that is easily understood by the recipient of the information.
Adherence to all security procedures for ensuring confidentiality of donor information.
Education and Experience:
Minimum requirements are:
B.S. degree in a Chemistry, Biology, Forensic Toxicology or equivalent relevant field
Two years’ experience in a Toxicology or Pharmaceutical laboratory required
Minimum skills required are:
Advanced ability to understand analytical techniques and procedures
Advanced ability to understand laboratory instrumentation
Advanced ability to understand certification requirements for SAMHSA, CAP-FUDT, and other relevant regulatory bodies.
Advanced ability to understand the function of a Laboratory Information System (LIS) and other laboratory computer systems
Advanced ability to communicate with clients and MROs on drug metabolism.
