Proficiently uses the LIS and other business & technical software.
Complies with HIPPA regulations to safeguard confidentiality of patient information.

Properly operates and maintains laboratory equipment, to include PC’s & printers, refrigerators & freezers, balance, centrifuges, water baths, heat blocks, pH meter, water purification system, pipettes, thermometers, hoods, sonicators, and other equipment as needed.
Makes calculations and prepares solutions and dilutions to produce calibrators, internal standards, and QC materials.
Using extraction and elution techniques, sequences and prepares samples, calibrators, QC, and standards for confirmation testing.
Participates in new method development.
Participates in training new employees.
Stores and maintains equipment/supplies in an organized manner & participates in inventory control & resupply.
Accepts and performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
AS degree in laboratory science or medical laboratory technology , or
BS degree in medical technology/clinical laboratory science, or chemical, physical, or biological science.
Laboratory technician certification and at least ten years of applicable work experience.
If an MLT or MT, must have passed the ASCP (or equivalent) registry examination.
Prefer experience in a similar or equivalent work environment.
Ability to quickly learn and retain new skills and knowledge.
Working knowledge in use of a PC and Microsoft Office software (Word and Excel).
Adequate typing speed – able to do basic typing without looking at keyboard.
Must be able to sit or stand for up to one hour without a break or change in position. Some walking or equivalent mobility required.
Should be able to lift up to 20 pounds of weight.
Possess adequate visual acuity to read requisitions, printed reports and other documents, printed labels, and a computer screen.
Ability to take direction and work as a team towards a common goal with other employees.
